The Border Project (Fronterizo)
Originally intended as an immersive VR experience, this web version of Fronterizo takes you across a virtual frontera that explores the bi-cultural and socio-political essence of the U.S.-Mexico border. With the help of the artist’s home community, locals share an array of stories in Spanglish about their symbiotic identity and the unique experiences that come along with living in the frontera. Drawing on elements from the landscape, ambient sounds from the area, and reconstructed objects and architecture using photogrammetry, Laredo, U.S., and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, come alive in this experimental journey.
